European Union´s Parliament
At the end of last month, the European Parliament voted in support of Nigeria’s fight against Boko Haram, listing three major steps that could end the insurgency that has ravaged the country’s North Eastern part.
In the non-legislative resolution passed by 516 votes to 11, with 36 abstentions at a plenary in Brussels, Belgium, the Members of European Parliament (MEPs) said Nigerian government should up efforts to end the violence and tackle the root causes of the terrorism, including corruption. The Parliament also urged Nigeria’s neighbours and the international community to collaborate to starve Boko Haram of income and prevent it from spreading terror abroad.
