Al Shabaab tried to kill Somalian President.
Mogadishu – On Saturday, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by the Islamist militant group al-Shabaab, according to Somalian media.
The al-Qaeda-linked militants on the weekend , launched a mortar attack at the president’s plane, as Mohamud´s airplane was trying to land at the regional airport of the southern town of Barawe. None of the terrorist artillery hit the target.
Recently the army recently recaptured the town Barawe from al-Shabaab. The al Shabaab militants claimed responsibility for the attack shortly thereafter.
Al-Shabaab, which wants to establish an Islamic state and Sharia Law in Somalia, has killed many somalian government officials this year.
