KANO, NIGERIA: At least 13 students and teachers were killed and 34 injured on Wednesday as a gun battle broke out between police and suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers in Nigeria’s second city of Kano, police said.
The terrorists ran into the Federal College of Education after exchanging fire with Nigerian police outside the grounds. One police officer shot at one of the gunmen and the explosives on him went off, killing him on the spot. The other gunman was also killed.
Most of the victims at the northern teacher training college were in a lecture hall. The gunmen were dressed in black, and students heard them shouting the name of Boko Haram.
