The Nigerian  Government has given  the armed forces and other security agencies the order  to embark on mass recruitment  to the war against terrorism in the country, starting in May.

Acc to media, President  Goodluck Jonathan  ordered for more army recruitment after the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Kenneth Minimah asked for it.

Related to the recruitment, the Nigerian Army improved recently its training facilities in parts of the country.

Now,  the recruitment  would be hold  twice a year. Another Army improvements are on the way.

Currently the Nigerian Army has  about 150,000 men and officers.

Recently,  the Nigerian army assumed some responsibilities of  the  Nigerian Police,  especially in the North –East  where -due to Boko Haram – many  police facilities   had been destroyed by terrorists.

The Nigerian Government intends also to boost the capacity of other security agencies like the State Security Service the police,  and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCD.

Nigeria is also recruiting ex-service men and other retired security officers into the army.
