Mali — France’s president F. Holland is vowing to help stop the advance of al Qaida terrorists and radical Islamists a day after they seized a key town in Mali. The African union have failed so far to send troops to Mali.
The United Nations Security Council also has condemned the capture of the city of Konna, and called on U.N. member states to provide assistance to Mali.
France did not inform specifically what kind of military assistance it was prepared to offer, though French President said France is ready to help to stop the Islamist extremists.
The fighting over the town of Konna was the first direct clash between Malian government forces and the Islamists in nearly a year.
An african military intervention to take back northern Mali from the Al Qaida group and the Tuareg rebel Islamists is not likely before Summer.
