Twelve people were killed and hundreds injured when a suicide car bomber attacked a christian church in Nigeria’s northern city of Bauchi on Sunday.
The Chruch is the Harvest Field Pentecostal Church located in Yeruwa area. The church was badly damaged during the explosion.
Authorities suspect that the radical Islamic sect Boko Haram is responsible for the attack.
Boko Haram had carried out several such attacks in northern Nigeria killing hundreds of christians in the past.
Boko Haram, having its stronghold in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri, wants to impose Sharia law in Nigeria and had targeted mainly churches as well as police stations, schools, and other nigerian government buildings.
What is happening in Northern Nigeria and Northern Mali, that is the acting of Islamic Radicals linked to Al Qaeda, could be part of a strategy of the islamist terrorist organization Al Qaeda to “liberate” several areas in the north west of Africa, securing influence in the continent and also new ways of financing through drug trafficking to Europe, kidnappings, piracy, etc..
Pro al Qaeda extremist groups have been armed with weapons flowing out of Libya following the overthrow of the regime of Moamma Gadhafi.
The new situation could destroy many african states in a similar way like the extremists did in Somalia. This could have side effects in other parts of the world like in Europe, where former colonial powers England and France in particular, and Europe in general could be endangered by this development like more drug trafficking into Europe, more immigration, piracy in the Mediterranean Sea and the African north west coast, etc..
